Recall is built to keep your notes on your iPhone. There is no account to make, and Recall keeps no server of its own. This page explains, in plain terms, what that means for your data.
What Recall stores
Recall stores the notes you capture: text you type, transcripts of voice notes, and photos or documents you add. These are kept in the app on your device.
When you use it, Recall reads a note to suggest a task, a date, or a person. This reading happens on your iPhone, using Apple Intelligence. The note is not sent to us or to any third party for this.
No account, no tracking
- Recall has no sign-up and no login. You do not give us your name, email, or any identifier.
- Recall does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
- We do not sell or share your data. We do not build a profile of you.
iCloud sync
If iCloud is enabled on your device, your notes may sync across your own devices through Apple’s iCloud, in your private iCloud database. This is handled by Apple, is tied to your Apple Account, and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. VegaCode cannot see the contents of your iCloud data.
Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts
When you tap to add an item, Recall writes a reminder, event, or contact into Apple’s Reminders, Calendar, or Contacts on your device, using the system’s own tools and permissions. This happens only on your explicit tap. Once created, those items live in your Apple apps and follow Apple’s handling of that data.
Optional cloud features
Recall’s note reading is on-device today. If we later offer an optional feature that uses a cloud service (for example a more capable AI model), it will be off by default and opt-in, it will be clearly labelled, and we will update this policy to describe exactly what is sent and what is kept. Nothing leaves your phone for such a feature unless you turn it on.
Deleting your data
You are in control. Deleting a note removes it from the app. When a note created a reminder or event, Recall asks whether to remove those too. Deleting the app removes its on-device data; to remove synced copies, delete them from iCloud as well.
Children
Recall is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for a significant change, note it in the app or on this site.
